I drew a time line for the student then asked "What do you think? How many years? " The student responded, "I think someone got tired of using paper clips and thought , I need a stapler!"

- I chose the book Owl Moon as mentor text for a recent writing lesson. The topic of the lesson was, finding the big idea in our stories and supporting the big idea with the conclusion.
